The Port of Montreal is open

March 24, 2020ITN
Messages to our partners and clients: The Port of Montreal is open.

In the wake of the Quebec government’s announcement calling for non-essential businesses to close no later than midnight on March 24, and to stay closed through April 13, several partners and clients have contacted us to see what the situation is with port activities. The Port of Montreal remains open.

The Port of Montreal provides essential services, especially to food companies and the medical and pharmaceutical sectors. We carry on our work. Under federal jurisdiction, the Montreal Port Authority continues to operate, same as all the  other Canadian port authorities, to maintain regional and Canada-wide supply chains. The same obviously applies to truck and rail transportation activities that are linked to the agri-food and medical supply chain.

At the same time, Port teams have adopted many measures, as directed by Transport Canada and the Public Health Agency of Canada, to ensure everyone’s safety. The Port will keep following the authorities’ recommendations and will do everything necessary to ensure that its activities continue in complete safety, in collaboration with our many partners and clients.

Thank you for your cooperation. We will stay in touch with you and provide updates as the situation progresses.
