Dear Customer,
As a regular or even an occasional shipper of air cargo from Canada, registering with Transport Canada for status as a Known Consignor, will allow you to pre-screen most if not all of your export air shipments, and avoid the cost of 3rd party screening, as well as potential delays and/or re-routings which may inevitably occur if a company exporting by air is not registered with Transport Canada’s Air Cargo Security Program.
Even if you do not wish to screen your own cargo, and would prefer to pay a 3rd party to do so. You should still register, but as an Account Consignor
Cargo must originate from an Account Consignor or Known Consignor in order to fly to (or via) the United States.
You must complete the on-line form, at http://www.tc.gc.ca/eng/aviationsecurity/asc-41.htm
It will take about 5 – 10 minutes, and requires your company’s business information, address, contact person, signing authority. There is no cost to apply or for the registration.We strongly suggest you apply before the March 31st deadline, as it may take Transport Canada several months to process the thousands of expected applications.
