Potential Trucking Disruption in Vancouver BC

January 12, 2015admin

ITN has been made aware of the following Potential Trucking Disruption for today – Monday January 12th, 2015.

UNIFOR are seeking to orchestrate another day of trucking disruption in Vancouver on Monday January 12th, 2015 based on the two reasons:

  • Dissatisfaction with aspects of PMV’s TLS reforms
  • Dissatisfaction with aspects of provincially mandated trucking rates

The PMV have advised the following:

  • To date 24 trucking companies comprising 700 trucks have been approved for TLS registration (these companies are also seeking to register a further 300 trucks).
  • A further 30 applications comprising 300 trucks are under review, some of which are likely to be approved today.

Due to this matter, the PMV are very close to achieving its targeted number of registrations, hence the rush of applications from those who have unsure and waiting until this time.

UNIFOR is more than likely feeling the need to make a statement, and may initiate some form of protest on Monday. However, all parties involved are working to head this off under the threat of “consequences” for those who participate. The BCO’s with in-house trucking fleets are actively dissuading their drivers from participating in further futile disruption.

Should you require further information, please contact an ITN representative who will be happy to assist you.
